Max Caster's TNA Controversy Could Hurt His WWE Chances

Max Caster’s controversial TNA debut may not just have cost him future dates with the company—it could also end up hurting his chances of ever landing in WWE. According to Bryan Alvarez, the issue goes beyond the Riyadh lyric itself and comes down to a reputation Caster has developed behind the scenes.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez said he was told Caster repeatedly got himself into trouble in AEW for the same reason. According to the people he spoke with, Caster has a habit of ignoring instructions if he’s told not to do something, and that reportedly became a recurring issue during his AEW run.

“He got in trouble so many times over the same thing in AEW. The way it was described to me, Max Caster is a very hard-headed guy, and if you tell him no, he’s gonna do it anyway. And he got in trouble many times in AEW for this.”

Alvarez then connected that reputation to what happened at Bound For Glory, saying the latest controversy could leave WWE thinking twice if the company ever considers bringing Caster in. He stressed that, from WWE’s perspective, the bigger concern isn’t necessarily what Caster said—it’s whether he’s willing to follow directions.

“Now the same thing in TNA, and after this, it’s not sure if WWE will consider hiring him. It’s not even so much what was said, as opposed to what WWE does not want is someone—if you say don’t do that, they will do it anyway. And Max has a tendency to do just that.”

Those comments come after reports that Caster’s Riyadh lyric wasn’t scripted or approved by TNA before he delivered it. The company has since deleted the entrance video from its social media, and previous reports indicated TNA’s plans for Caster were suddenly thrown into doubt following the backlash.

If this information is accurate, this may end up being about more than one controversial rap. Wrestling companies can usually move past a bad promo, but developing a reputation for ignoring creative direction is a much tougher label to shake.

Do you think Max Caster’s reputation could hurt his chances of signing with WWE, or should one controversy not define his future? Let us know in the comments.

Biggest file in the book, and the file is the problem. They had Ospreay’s time off and the Wrestlepalooza matches. They also had Vaquer hurt when she said she was not. Almost half the items never finished, and the miss pile is larger than anyone else’s. A podcast aside is not a report. If another site turns that aside into a news item, the mark stays here only when the claim was theirs.
