With WWE Crown Jewel 2026 scheduled to take place in Riyadh next month, Saudi officials say King Khalid International Airport in the city has been attacked 20 times this month.

According to Reuters, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen stated on Thursday that the Iran-backed Houthi rebel group’s recent attacks on the airport had killed 17 people and wounded 333 others.

King Khalid International Airport may be familiar to wrestling fans, as it was where WWE wrestlers and employees were stranded for several hours following WWE Crown Jewel 2019. WWE attributed the delay to “mechanical issues” with the plane.

As of this writing, WWE Crown Jewel 2026 is scheduled for November 7 at Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD in Riyadh.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the latest on the situation on Thursday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer said on the show:

“They will not even publicly say that there’s a backup plan, there is, but they can’t publicly say it because if they publicly say it, it sounds like they’re wavering on going. And they can’t have that out because then the Saudis and Turki will be very upset at them for having that out. That’s why no one talks about the idea of a backup plan, and they deny it. But to not have a backup plan, you would have to be incompetent, and if there is anything that the people that run WWE are, incompetent is not one of those things.”

Biggest file in the book, and the file is the problem. They had Ospreay’s time off and the Wrestlepalooza matches. They also had Vaquer hurt when she said she was not. Almost half the items never finished, and the miss pile is larger than anyone else’s. A podcast aside is not a report. If another site turns that aside into a news item, the mark stays here only when the claim was theirs.
