Current AEW star Chris Jericho will be appearing on the small screen in an acting role once again, playing a role he is familiar with and of someone many wrestling fans are familiar with as well.
Announced by Deadline on Thursday, Jericho will play the legendary Gorgeous George in the upcoming Prime Video series chronicling the life of boxer and mainstream icon Muhammad Ali. The full eight episode series comes out on Wednesday, November 4 with Jericho’s appearance coming in episode four.
The two men met in 1961 with Ali taking inspiration from the wrestling star on how to rile up crowds and a style of reciting poems and phrases that caught on in pop culture.
From the article:
“The Greatest features defining moments in Ali’s life and career, both in and out of the ring, that have been well documented, and moments that took place outside the spotlight. The world remembers an icon, but The Greatest is about a man, a husband, a father, a brother and a son.”
Jericho has made several appearances on TV outside the wrestling ring this year as he appeared in CBS’ Tracker and Apple TV’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles. He will also make an appearance in the second season of Dexter: Resurrection this fall.
