WWE’s Original Vision for Big Cass After His Return Revealed

Big Cass may have already slipped down WWE’s pecking order. A new backstage update claims the company originally had much bigger plans for the returning star, but his recent booking suggests those plans have already changed.

While speaking during BackupHangman Radio, Self Made Pro said WWE initially viewed Big Cass as someone who could be positioned alongside the brand’s biggest powerhouses.

“Cass, clearly they’ve brought him down a level from where they saw him.”

He pushed back on the idea that Cass was never meant to be anything more than another body on the roster, saying WWE had much higher expectations when they brought him back. According to Self Made Pro, that’s what makes Cass’ recent loss to Dragon Lee stand out so much.

“I know some people will tell you, ‘Oh, he was never brought in to be anything.’ I can tell you that when they brought him in, they did see him as a guy to throw against Oba Femi and Bron Breakker. So if he’s doing jobs on TV to Dragon Lee, at the very least, right now they are not really looking in that direction.”

The comments line up with the growing speculation following the September 28 edition of RAW, where Cass lost to Dragon Lee despite returning with a much more serious presentation and what appeared to be plans for a major singles run. Dave Meltzer also recently questioned the booking, suggesting WWE may have already cooled on Cass as a solo act.

For now, all eyes are on what happens next. Cass returned looking like someone WWE wanted to build into a major player, but his recent booking has raised plenty of questions. The next few weeks should make it clear whether this is just a setback or a sign that his push has already cooled.

Do you think WWE pulled back on Big Cass too quickly, or was the loss to Dragon Lee just part of a bigger plan? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Big enough to letter. Not big enough to hide in. They had Fatu penciled for Berlin and Liv challenging Vaquer at Mania. They also had Cena in War Games, Gunther against Lesnar as the Mania plan, and Backlash back in Puerto Rico. A paywall does not get a curve. Coin flip when they picked a side, and a vague share that still drags the overall under the other D.
