Austin Creed isn’t able to host UpUpDownDown anymore, but he might have another video game-related project in the works.
The former Xavier Woods was the face of WWE’s UpUpDownDown gaming channel on YouTube, reaching 2.43 million subscribers before Creed departed the company this May. Now with AEW, Creed spoke with Phid McAwesome at PAX Australia and was asked what it was like having to walk away from UpUpDownDown.
“It’s fine,” Creed responded. “Because I believe in myself creatively enough that if I want to, I just build something else.”
Creed, Tyler Breeze, Adam Cole, and Claudio Castagnoli, who are all video game fans, have called their streaming group “Da Party.” Three of them are now signed to AEW, and the other (Breeze) is a free agent. Creed teased the idea of reuniting their group and hinted that a new YouTube channel is already being worked on.
“I will say that you are correct, none of the Da Party members are currently signed with WWE,” Creed said. “And that would lead me to believe that there is at least the chance that something will happen. The chance of something to be created is available. I will not confirm or deny if anyone has been filming anything or if anyone has been creating assets for a new YouTube channel — I will not confirm or deny that. I will not.”
Since arriving in AEW, Creed has enjoyed forming bonds with the wrestlers he’s meeting for the first time. Having a good rapport with the locker room is part of why UpUpDownDown worked. Creed wants that same dynamic to exist if he were to start a similar project within AEW.
“I would hope that maybe there’d be a chance to do something with video games. I don’t know. I cannot say. But that rapport with the locker room is first and foremost the most important thing,” he said. “So before I even think about setting up a camera and getting people to play games and stuff, I want that rapport first.”
WWE owns the rights to the UpUpDownDown name and channel, so Creed would need to come up with a new name if he does launch another project.
AEW gaming podcast on hold —
AEW did have a video game-focused podcast, named All Elite Arcade, that Cole & Evil Uno hosted. However, the show has not released a new episode since April. Evil Uno noted in May that all AEW Games content was on hold until further notice. The My AEW website has a graphic that teases an AEW podcast network is coming soon.
