A Cruiserweight Championship match is the latest addition to the card for tonight’s WWE SmackDown.
WWE has confirmed that Ricky Saints will get his AAA Cruiserweight Championship shot against Rey Fenix on tonight’s SmackDown episode from Sacramento, California. The two have been feuding for a while — and Saints earned another shot at the Cruiserweight title by pinning Fenix in a six-man tag bout two weeks ago.
Saints teamed with The War Raiders to defeat Fenix & Fraxiom on the October 2 SmackDown episode. After making a blind tag, Saints took advantage of the fact that Fenix did not know that he was the legal man, hitting Roshambo for the victory.
In an online exclusive segment last Friday, Saints called out Fenix for this title match. Saints is looking for a different result this time after coming up short when he challenged Fenix for the title last month.
WWE has established that, while the Cruiserweight Championship is primarily a Lucha Libre AAA title, it can be defended across all of the company’s brands. Fenix has been champion since late May. Mini Vikingo is owed a shot at the title at AAA Heroes Inmortales on October 24.
Here is the updated SmackDown lineup for tonight:
