The November 3 episode of NXT could move to Wednesday, November 4, and end up going head-to-head with AEW Blood and Guts.
The U.S. midterm elections are scheduled for that Tuesday, and our own Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that he’s heard the CW wants to move the NXT episode that week to Wednesday to avoid being preempted for election coverage.
AEW’s two-ring WarGames-style cage match event this year is set for the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
Meltzer said:
“I don’t know this 100%. I was told by people who know that CW wants to move NXT to that Wednesday. It probably will be moved because if it’s on Tuesday, it’ll be preempted on far too many stations.
“That’s the night of Blood and Guts. AEW has the two Blood and Guts matches they set up tonight that are going to be pretty wild. I don’t know that AEW knows any of this right now, but obviously they will in five minutes. NXT is going to have to shoot a big angle on Halloween Havoc because it’s a tough situation.
“WWE will actually have three shows going against Blood and Guts. They’re going to have NXT, which isn’t 100% but is probable, the Evolve show, and the Main Event show, all at the same time. They’re competing with themselves on three levels, and they’re competing with one of AEW’s signature shows of the year on their own night.”
The teams for the Blood and Guts match were revealed on AEW Dynamite this week. The members of the Don Callis Family, Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Wardlow, Kevin Knight, Mark Davis, and Jake Doyle will go up against Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, Steven Borden, Matt and Nick Jackson, and Darby Allin.
The episode of NXT that week will be the first show since NXT Halloween Havoc on Saturday, October 31.
This will be the sixth edition of AEW Blood and Guts. Last year’s show was the first to feature a women’s Blood and Guts match as well.
